Inspired by These Days in the French Life, 40 steps on the personal path to green, and 10 things we decided to celebrate the rebirth of w.b.t.e.o. with something we can all sink our teeth into. That’s right, folks, we’re givin’ you the facts. Ten of ‘em. It’s your job to think about the greater implications. Here’s a few to whet your whistle.
Fact: We live sandwiched between Beverly Hills and the La Brea Tar pits.
Fact: We don’t own a car.
Fact: We walked through a crowd of people laughing at us as when we were carrying a package of toilet paper home from CVS.
Ready for some more? Good. Here’s a list of ten things that we are doing and ten things that we would like to start doing (as the good lord tarries). Check it.
We do:
- Eat locally and seasonally
- Buy thoughtfully
- Use our legs
- Carry our load
- Make things
- Hang dry
- Not waste
- Buy in bulk
- Eat in
- Cut hair
We would like to:
- Forage
- Grow food
- Make toothpaste
- Get our sewing machine fixed
- Assemble self watering containers
- Save and exchange seeds
- Compost for reals
- Utilize public spaces
- Become experts
- Use networking resources to exchange and barter goods and services
They say that when an activity is fun, good for the environment, and also affects personal health or well being it’s much easier to maintain. We agree.
We do what we like. We do what we care about. It works. You in?

making your own toothpaste? But you still buy toiletpaper? You guys are some crazyass motherfuckers!
It’s possible not to buy toilet paper, but I don’t I would ever be okay with that.
i would just as soon wipe with my hand.
I RUV U!
I’m in! I’ve been wanting to make shampoo for a while now. Or conditioner. Or find a bulk supplier and refill? Also…let’s get together.
I don’t want to wipe with my hand until I can train myself not to shake hands, write, touch my face, or pet the cat with my left hand.
I think this blog (and this Blog) are really great. Since you are my favorite people in the world and my only legitimate hope for what married life could promise, I’ve been craving little niblets from your life these days. I will love you forever for keeping this up. It seems ridiculous that I too have lived in my own little house for so long now and have not began to pot and grow food. We only live in the most temperate area of the country where plenty of foods can grow. Anyway, this inspired me to make my own little list of where I am at in my life style and where I want to go with it (ahhh! now that i put things on that list I am actually gonna have to do them instead of crying “too busy”). I love this.
Also, I’m way into the idea of having a little high-power sprayer installed in the bathroom (like the pull-out kind on kitchen sinks) that I can spray my patoot with. You could even have it attached to the shower with a long hose depending on the location of your toilet. I used them in fancy bathrooms during my glt and they were AMAZING.
Thanks jennabee!

WHY ARE WE ALL TALKING ABOUT WIPING? By far my least favorite subject. Or close. Colonics are my least favorite subject.
